Position Summary: The Workers Compensation Assistant Manager will support the Worker Compensation Manager by overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and assisting with administrative duties. The role will directly support and supervise the Workers Compensation team to ensure efficient workflows, growth development, and monitoring success in each department.

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma required. Associate degree preferred.

Licensure: N/A

Certification: N/A

Experience:

  • 1+ years prior supervisory experience in a healthcare preferred.
  • 3+ years of Workers' Compensation or Personal Injury experience preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Exceptional leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Proficiency in Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accident, and/or Personal Injury terminology.
  • Calm and rational critical thinking.
  • Demonstrate behaviors which support excellent customer and patient service and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with medical terms.

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitors team member performance by performing regular audits and provides coaching as needed.
  • Coordinates training and orientation of team members.
  • Monitors and maintains team schedules and PTO requests, reviews and edits employee timecards.
  • Creates and fosters team work among team members.
  • Provides input to implement efficiencies, improve workflows and processes through continuous quality improvement.
  • Collaborates with vendors on service-related issues.
  • Promotes BEST patient experience and excellent customer service.
  • Assists in reviewing and updating Work Comp policies and procedures.
  • Serves as subject expertise for workers compensation, MVA, and personal injury.
  • Assists and facilitates team weekly and monthly meetings.
  • Participates in continuing education curriculum, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities.
  • Participates and attends meetings related to assigned projects.
  • Represents the department externally and internally.
  • Monitors pertinent sites for best practice recommendations and any other issues that may impact the organization.
  • Serves as a role model for Always TRUE and the OrthoNebraska Way.
  • Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Sedentary Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally) up to (33% of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (33%-66% of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
